The Yanmar YT3 series has more power than other tractors in its class because of something Yanmar calls “Performance Link Technology.” Interlink technology means that the engine, transmission, front axle, and final drive are all made to work together.
Yanmar’s primary components have been designed, engineered, and manufactured for each part designed to work in perfect tune with the other. The result is more efficient power transfer between the elements, increasing performance and decreasing fuel consumption.

The YT3 series tractors come in 47hp and 59hp engine options. They include:
- A 4-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine with 3 Ranges.
- The engines are tier 4 emission compliant using an efficient regen system.
- D.E.F. is not required for this tractor.
- 4wd and Dif-Lock Functionality.
- The Fuel tank capacity is a solid 12.7 Gallons with easy access.

Transmission
The YT3 series tractor is the only one in America with the revolutionary I-HMT transmission. It is known as an integrated hydro-mechanical transmission. The I-HMT is a first-ever functional solution of a hydromechanical variable transmission for a tractor under 50hp. Yanmar is the first to solve shrinking the system to fit smaller tractors.
This I-HMT transmission provides:
- 15% higher pulling power
compared to hydrostatic tractors.
- Significantly better fuel economy.
- It can complete much heavier applications without decreasing its lifespan.
Synchronized shuttle shift tractors or hydroelectric transmissions can be found on high-end compact tractors, but the I-HMT transmission by Yanmar is still superior to all others in the compact tractor space.
- It gives the YT3 all the raw power and durability from a mechanical transmission.

Controls
Controls on the YT3 offer loads of controls. These include:
- Easy-to-use forward and reverse lever with a neutral middle setting.
- Cruise Control next to the steering column.
- On the other side of the steering wheel is three more buttons.
- Auto Throttle allows you to increase ground speed independent of implement speed.
- Display Button enables you to toggle through the display options.
- Anti-Stall Button prevents stalling when encountering heavy loads.
The YT347 and YT359 tractors come with A/B Mode. A/B mode allows you to independently set the travel and engine speeds for increased power and efficiency. You can dial individual settings for each tractor's three ranges. Those settings are saved and implemented when you switch between ranges. The tractor automatically adjusts its travel and engine speeds to match your application.

3-Point & Loader
The 3-point on this tractor is Category 1. It has Pin-In sway bars and telescoping linkages to make putting on and taking off implements easier. Also, the 3-point lift capacity is a solid 2,500 lbs.

This tractor does come with a quick disconnect loader. The loader does have an auto-lowering kickstand, so taking off the loader is a breeze.
Also, it does come with a loader level indicator. The loader comes standard with a 72” bucket; the loader connection type is the universal skid steer quick attach. The total lift capacity for the loader is 2,500 lbs. with a lift height of 113”.
Dimensions & Weight
The overall length for the YT3 Tractor Series is 132.1” without the loader, and with the loader, the overall length is 180”. The width is 70.6”, The height of the non-cab tractor is 95.7”, and the size of the cab tractor is 89.5”.
The R4 front tire size is 10”-16.5”, the rear R4 tire size is 17”.5-24”, and the total weight without the loader is about 4,400 lbs. The tractor with the loader has a total weight of approximately 5,500 lbs.
The wheelbase for the YT3 is surprisingly long at 75.9”. That's because the rear axle is offset. This helps with a couple of things.
- The power coming from the rear wheels provides a higher torque resistance.
- Secondly, the offset axle helps to increase ground clearance.
- The ground clearance is 12.8".
Price
The suggested retail price of the Yanmar YT347 Non-cab is $44,500, and the Yanmar YT359 Non-cab is $46,600. For the price, you get all the standard features we’ve discussed, even the loader and bucket. Summary
The Yanmar YT3 series tractors are some of the best in the compact tractor space. Mind you; both the John Deere and Kubota tractors are over 60hp; they will also be slightly more considerable as well, and not to mention they cost about $8000 more than the Yanmar. Despite this, the Yanmar is more compact, less expensive, as powerful as these other tractors, and has more transmission controls!
