Why would you ever need a zero-turn mower with tracks? Here are just a few reasons.
But you might need a mower with tracks if you plan on mowing through some crazy thick stuff or on rugged terrain.
For many of us, a professional zero-turn mower like this one, the Altoz TRX766, might be overkill. But some of you might find that It’s just the right fit for the job.
Four Altoz zero-turn mowers feature their patented Tracks Technology.
The Altoz Tracks Mower line-up starts with the TRX354, which has a 54” cut.
While this mower is the cheapest tracks mower, it’s still a full-on professional-grade mower. Yet, it has an economical price tag that reflects its starting position. As of the publication of this article, the price for the TRX354 is around $15,999. This mower will be the best option for people needing a mower to handle hills and tricky terrain.
Going in order by the price tag, the next mower is the TSX561, which has a 61” cut. All the other mowers start with the letters TRX, but because this is a stand-on mower, Altoz decided to call it the TSX instead.
The TSX561 mower has won a lot of product innovation awards. It is a favorite in the lineup because it just looks so cool. It has a cutting deck designed to cut through just about anything you throw under it. The current price tag for this mower is $17,999. It is the best choice for people who need a zero-turn mower that can handle the hills, take the thick stuff, and don’t want to pay the premium for the top mower in this lineup.
Next in the line-up is the TRX561. It also has a 61” cut, but the deck will differ from the one we find on the TSX561.
The TRX561 mower starts at around $19,499 and is an excellent option for people who need to handle tricky terrain but may not be cutting through thick brush or extremely tall grass but still want the best engine and transaxles. This machine can run for long periods without worrying about wearing the components down as fast as you might on the TRX354.
The TRX766 comes with the widest cutting deck at 66”. This mower is the most expensive at right around $23,499.
The TRX766 is the best choice for those who don’t want to compromise. It has
The TRX354 has the smallest engine with a 24hp Kawasaki FT, while all the other mowers feature the Kawasaki FX series.
The 561 mowers have 29.5 hp motors.
The TRX766 has a 38.5hp engine. It uses the Kawasaki FX1000V. It is the most powerful EFI motor.
All the mowers have a good-sized gas tank, with the stand-on mower having the smallest gas tank at 8.5 gallons. Also, the stand-on is the only mower with a single fuel tank instead of dual gas tanks.
The top speed of the mowers also varies slightly, with the TRX766 being the fastest at 11 miles per hour, and the same goes for the transaxles, with the 766 having the biggest transaxles, the Hydrogear ZT 5400. However, all the mowers have full-on commercial-grade transaxles.
The mowing decks are where things get interesting. As you might have already noticed, the last two numbers in the product name reflect the size of the mowing deck. However, the TRX354 and TRX561 come with one deck option, which is the Aero deck. This deck will be designed to give you a clean, professional cut.
The TSX561 and the TRX766 have two deck options. The decks can be swapped. The AERO DECK is available, as well as the ALL-TERRAIN mowing deck.
The All-Terrain deck features six blades instead of three, so each of the spindles has two blades attached, and the blades are designed to be able to snap back. This design ensures that the blades won’t be prone to damage or breaking when encountering hard stuff, like rocks or branches. This is like how rotary cutters work on the back of tractors.
The All-Terrain deck design is why a mower can cut through most terrain. Also, the All-Terrain deck has chain guards on the front and will be a rear discharge design instead of the side discharge design on the Aero deck.
Also, all the mowers, except for the TRX354, have a max cut height of 6”, which is excellent for people mowing tall stuff. The minimum cut height is 2.5”, with the 354 cutting slightly lower at 2.25”.
Interestingly, all the mowers have a blade speed of 18,500 feet per minute (FPM) except for the TSX561, which has a blade speed of 17,250 FPM. The speed difference does not seem to impact the TSX561’s performance, as it has proven to cut through whatever is thrown at it.
All the mowers come with an excellent suspension seat that is fully adjustable and customizable to your weight. The seat is very premium and has a high back.
Now, all the mowers except the 354 come with excellent Torqflex Front Suspension dampers that remove the chatter from the front wheels.
All the mowers have rear Torsion Axle Rear Suspension. This is Altoz’s patented suspension tech built into the tracks system. The Torsion Axle Rear Suspension enables the tracks to better contour to the landscape. The ride of the mower is buttery smooth with this design. This suspension technology and the tracks system make these mowers some of the smoothest in the zero-turn mower industry.
There is a myth that tracks damage yards. This is not true. If you are driving these machines correctly, you will not put ruts in your yard, and you can even choose from two different tread options.
A TRX Turf Tracks is perfect for running over soft ground, rolling hills, and sensitive terrain.
The All-Terrain Tracks are the best choice for unequaled traction and low ground pressure and are ideally suited to side hilling, soft ground, and wet and rough areas where most mowers can’t reach.
Most of these mowers come with some excellent features that operators will appreciate. Much of this is found in the SmarTrac Pro. It is a control panel that features:
This digital display also comes on all the mowers Except the 354.
Additional features include:
Here are the dimensions of these mowers. This is especially important as these mowers have a significantly smaller footprint than the others in length.

The longer the length of the track provides more considerable overall ground contact. This provides more traction and stability. So, the 766 should be slightly smoother and better at handling those super steep slopes.
The ALTOZ track mowers offer an excellent choice for various operators and owners. The tricky part will be deciding which one you like the best because they are all worth the investment.
